Entrance

(2019)

Through the work Entrance, Othniel seems to be building his own subjectivity with the lengger dance of its origins. Apart from revisiting the body of the lengger, the presence of the casket is a connection between death and life which is represented by the auditive element Dariah, a Banyumas lengger maestro and all the dance body vocabulary files that are brought back into other bodies through Othniel's performative dialogue movements.

The casket is like a border issue, an entrance, and also a space for dialogue between the presence of a body that dies and then rises and comes back to life to dialogue on the complex issue of the boundary over the history of dancing in Othniel's lengger body.

Entrance is how paradoxical issues between boundaries eventually merge to become mediators for humans who always talk about taboos in the complexity of these boundaries.
